Modern day alchemy inspired by a radical rethink of drink
StrangeLove have been called Australia’s first organic craft mixologists. We prefer to think of them as visionary alchemists exploring the new frontier of beverages. For their new range of tonic waters we played on StrangeLove’s interest in duality; the notion of self-preservation versus self-destruction, and how this influences our inner human conflicts. The product was premium, organic and exotic, with no advertising campaign the packaging needed to work hard to engage interest. As the key entry point for the brand, it had to weave a compelling story to lure people into the StrangeLove world.
An expert illustrator hand crafted the images, taking inspiration from 50’s cocktail bars, lipstick smudges, eight balls and vintage pipes suggesting a forgotten underworld, dark yet classy and enticing at the same time. We used postmodern typefaces for a premium yet ironic touch, the bottle itself features Italian inspired bottleneck stippling as a nod to StrangeLove’s obsession with the tonics and elixirs of yore. The result is a high concept, well-crafted product which communicates the unique vision of an idiosyncratic brand on a mission to shake up the drinks category.
