Putting our work life balance in a box

We believe the best creative inspiration happens with a healthy balance of work intensity and stimulating leisure time. After a busy yet rewarding 2016 we gave thanks to our clients with a cheekily ironic Christmas gift which took the cliché of unwanted calendars and planners and elevated it with a message close to our hearts.

With the balance of Leisure versus Labour as the theme, our planner was designed with no “right way up”. Each element was able to be read and orientated in two ways, a nod to the ideal balance of work and downtime.

The gift was centred around 12 individual planners which stack back to back, attached by a central spine which allows each one to break away as they are used up. The brick-like stack was tucked into a cardboard sleeve with tear-tabs for opening, contained in two cloth bound book trays.

To complete the theme, Leisure was represented by a labelled pencil, Labour a pen. We enjoyed the way a playful yet considered packaging product could get across a high-concept message and showcase innovative techniques in the process.
